The first day of May, 2009 will witness the grand opening of a world-class music festival planned and held by the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA)—the NCPA May Festival. Lasting 29 days, this musical event will consist of altogether 14 excellent concerts arranged in 19 performances. Orchestras and musical talents from eight countries in Asia, Europe and America will assemble at the National Center of the Performing Arts and present the purest music in the month of May.
——Symphony
Symphony is an enshrined musical form in the Kingdom of Music. Always magnificent when performed, it embodies man’s lofty spiritual pursuit and deep philosophical thinking; saturated with emotions and feelings, it reflects various aspects of society and represents vicissitudes of life.
——Vocal music
Singing can best express human’s internal feelings. Far back in ancient times, our ancestors had been using songs to communicate love and express anger, grief, joy and happiness. Here in this hall, you will be presented with the brilliant performances of the top male chorus Chanticleer, of the Zurich Boys’ Choir, and more. Every vocal concert will be poetry of souls that reach directly into your heart.
——室內(nèi)樂(lè)
——Chamber music
Chamber music used to impress the audience as “too elegant or refined to be popular”. It is not as magnificent as symphony, nor does it have as distinctive features as solo music. However, it has higher requirements on performance and expression. In a sense, this is a musical form more complicated than solo music and symphony, which relies entirely upon the tacit cooperation and perfect coordination among several performers.
Both Berlin Philharmonic and Vienna Philharmonic have always topped the list of the world’s first-class symphony orchestras. Besides symphonic orchestra music, musicians from these two orchestras sometimes form chamber music bands to give concerts of smaller scale. As a matter of fact, this has been very prevalent in Europe and America. For instance, the cello group and brass group of Berlin Philharmonic and the soloist group of Vienna Philharmonic have enjoyed prestige in the music world. On the one hand, chamber music performances can provide opportunities for musicians to demonstrate their musical talent and excellence at coordination; on the other, musicians need to listen to and complement each other while performing, which has always been a focus in trainings of modern symphony orchestras. These chamber music bands with top musicians and vocalists of different voices from the two above-mentioned orchestras and elsewhere are undoubtedly the best of their kind.
